Your safety matters

CampSpark is designed to help you discover people nearby in a private and anonymous way. While we build safety into every feature, your personal safety is ultimately in your hands.

Built-in safety features

  • Anonymous by default — your identity is hidden behind an avatar.

  • No GPS tracking — we never know your precise location.

  • Block anyone instantly — they can never see or contact you again.

  • Report inappropriate behavior — every report is reviewed.

  • Privacy Mode — go invisible whenever you want.

  • Full Stealth Mode — completely undetectable, even via Bluetooth.

Two ways to disappear

Privacy Mode lives on your Discover screen and gives you two levels of invisibility. Pick a duration or leave it on indefinitely — you can switch it off anytime.

Invisible on Discover

You stop showing up as a bubble on nearby people's Discover screens. Your Bluetooth signal keeps running, so you may still appear in someone's Crossed Paths or Encounter+ later. Best when you want to browse quietly without going fully dark.

Full Stealth

Bluetooth advertising and scanning switch off completely. You become undetectable everywhere — Discover, Crossed Paths, and Encounter+ — and no presence signal leaves your phone. Stays on across restarts, reboots, and Bluetooth toggles until you turn it off.

If you choose to meet someone

CampSpark does NOT perform background checks on users. We cannot verify anyone's identity, age, or intentions. If you choose to meet someone from the app:

Do

  • Meet in a public, well-lit place (campus cafeteria, library, etc.).
  • Tell a friend or family member where you're going and who with.
  • Keep your phone charged and accessible.
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, leave immediately.
  • Do not share personal information (address, phone, financial info) until you are comfortable.

Don't

  • Do not meet at private residences on the first meeting.
  • Do not share your live location with strangers.
  • Do not send money to anyone you've met on the app.
